How many airports are in Lagos?

Lagos has one airport with passenger flights: Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA, airport code LOS) in Ikeja. People often say "MM1", "MM2" or "the international airport" as if they were different airports, but they are terminals of the same airport:

  • International terminals: Terminal 1 (the old international terminal) is closed for a full rebuild after a fire in February 2026; international departures use a temporary hall and the newer Terminal 2.
  • MM2 (domestic): Built and run privately by Bi-Courtney since 2007; it handles most Lagos domestic flights.
  • MM1 / GAT (domestic): The older domestic terminal run by FAAN, next to the General Aviation Terminal.

The terminal you need depends on your airline, so check your ticket before you leave home. More in our Lagos airport guide.

International airports in Nigeria

Many other airports carry "International" in their name but have only domestic flights.

Most international flights leave from Lagos and Abuja. See fares from both in the Nigeria Air Fare Index.
