Short answer: yes, you can book a flight in Nigeria now and pay later. The main options are Pay Small Small by Kalabash, sold by Air Peace, ValueJet and Wakanow (deposits from 10% to 25%, up to 6 months to pay); agency plans such as SkyKoda FlexPay (25% today, the rest within 30 days); and loans such as FCMB's Book Now, Fly Later for international tickets. Pay Small Small by Kalabash (Air Peace, ValueJet, Wakanow)

"Pay Small Small" is a product of Kalabash, sold at checkout by partner airlines and agencies. Kalabash's own page lists a 25% down payment "to lock in a flight price", repayment from 24 hours to 6 months, no credit checks and no collateral; every instalment must be paid before you travel. Kalabash's site shows Wakanow, Air Peace, Arik Air, United Nigeria, ValueJet, Aero Contractors and Onburd as partners.

  • Air Peace: choose a deposit from 10% to 90% and pay over 24 hours to 6 months. Service charges apply (amounts not published). At least 25% of the total is non-refundable. Missing a payment brings a default fee, and the booking may be cancelled after 30 days in default. The ticket is issued after the down payment but released to you only after the last payment.
  • Wakanow: 25% down, plans from 1 day to 2 months, a service charge that depends on the plan length, and the first 25% is never refunded. Flights must be at least 5 days away.
  • ValueJet: offers Pay Small Small on its website; it doesn't publish the deposit or period (launch reports in 2023 said 25%).

SkyKoda FlexPay

With FlexPay you choose a deposit of 25%, 30%, 35%, 40%, 50% or 90% and a due date within 1, 2, 3, 5 or 30 days, on any domestic or international flight SkyKoda sells, online or on WhatsApp. The fee is 6% of the airline base fare, no interest, shown before you pay. It is not a loan and there is no credit check. The difference to know: the airline does not hold the fare until you've paid in full, so the price can change before then (SkyKoda shows the current price before every payment), and the longest plan is 30 days, shorter than Kalabash's 6 months. If you don't finish paying, the plan is cancelled and what you paid is refunded minus a cancellation fee.

Bank loans and the government scheme

  • FCMB Book Now, Fly Later: launched in July 2026 with 247 Travels. Loans of up to ₦10 million for international tickets bought through 247 Travels, repaid over 3 to 9 months, for salaried and self-employed FCMB customers who meet the bank's lending criteria. The interest rate isn't published.
  • CREDICORP Fly Now, Pay Later: the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, a federal agency, announced a scheme with Visaro and Alert Microfinance Bank in March 2026 for domestic flights booked on visaro.ng, subject to a credit assessment. Official terms haven't been published.
  • Klarna, Afterpay and similar: not available to Nigerian residents; travel sites offer them only in countries such as the US, Canada, Australia and parts of Europe.

Before you pay small small for a flight

  1. Ask for the total cost. Most plans add a service charge or interest, and several don't publish the amount.
  2. Check what you lose if you cancel. Air Peace and Wakanow keep at least 25%.
  3. Ask whether the fare is held. Some plans lock the price with the deposit; others, including SkyKoda FlexPay, don't hold it until you've paid in full.
  4. Finish paying before you fly. Every plan we checked needs full payment before the travel date.
  5. Pick the shortest plan you can manage. Wakanow says the service charge depends on the plan length.
  6. Remember the fare rules. Changes and refunds still follow the airline's rules for your ticket.

Common questions

Which travel agencies in Nigeria let you travel now and pay later?

Wakanow (Pay Small Small with Kalabash), SkyKoda (FlexPay) and FlightWiz publish instalment plans for flights. Air Peace and ValueJet sell Pay Small Small on their own websites, and FCMB lends for international tickets bought through 247 Travels.

How much deposit do I need to pay for a flight in instalments?

It depends on where you book: from 10% at Air Peace, 25% at Wakanow, 25% at SkyKoda, and at least 70% at FlightWiz.

Is my fare locked once I pay the deposit?

It depends. Kalabash and ValueJet say the deposit locks the price, and Air Peace issues the ticket after the down payment but releases it only after the last payment. SkyKoda FlexPay does not hold the fare until you have paid in full, so the price can change; SkyKoda shows the current price before every payment.

Can I get my deposit back if I cancel?

Usually not all of it. Wakanow keeps the first 25%, and Air Peace keeps at least 25% of the total. With SkyKoda FlexPay, an unpaid plan is cancelled and what you paid is refunded minus a cancellation fee.

Do I need a credit check to pay small small for a flight?

Not for most plans: Kalabash advertises no credit checks or collateral, Air Peace says no KYC documents, and SkyKoda FlexPay is not a loan. Bank loans such as FCMB's, and the CREDICORP scheme, do check eligibility.

Can Nigerians use Klarna or Afterpay for flights?

Not from Nigeria. Sites such as Alternative Airlines offer Klarna and Afterpay only to residents of countries like the US, Canada, Australia and parts of Europe.
